Staging Benefits

"Good staging is effective because when potential buyers walk into a house, they carry with them all their hopes for their new life in the new place... how they feel in the home ultimately gets reflected in the sales price and the number of offers... prestige, love, dreams, all the common denominators we all have as human beings, are at work in the home purchase... the staging maximizes, intensifies all of those feelings."
- San Jose Mercury News, May 6, 2000.

Why consider staging your home for sale?

  • Statistics suggest that staged homes sell faster and for higher prices than do non-staged homes, as noted in past articles published in the Detroit Free Press and San Jose Mercury News.
  • Upscale furnishings can help bring an upscale price.
  • Homes that appear to be in move-in condition are more likely to sell quickly.
  • As described in stories that have appeared in the Chicago Tribune and New York Times, a different appearance for the home might better project an image consistent with its listing price, while at the same time broadening the home's market appeal and generating multiple offers.

"Showroom homes sell for more... If sellers hope to get close to their asking prices these days, agents advise, they need to get and keep their homes in 'showroom' condition."
- San Francisco Sunday Examiner and Chronicle.

According to (a 1999 survey in Los Altos), staged homes were on the market an average of 13.9 days, while the non-staged ones stayed on an average of 30.9 days. And the staged homes sold for an average of 6.3% more than the list price, with the non-staged selling for an average of 1.6% over list.
