Staging Tips: Checklist
  • Rent a storage space.
  • Remove all visible storage boxes from closets and garage.
  • Store and remove unneeded furniture to make rooms appear larger.
  • Focus on exterior walls, i.e., stucco cracks, siding, roof and front doors. Paint if needed.
  • Powerwash or repair all exterior walkways.
  • Paint or touch-up interior walls, removing scuffs and hand marks.
  • Decorate front entrance and patios with potted flowers.
  • Wash windows.
  • Open all windows to allow fresh air to circulate.
  • Clean or replace current blinds, draperies or window treatments.
  • Have carpets and/or rugs cleaned. Replace all worn, stained or damaged flooring, i.e., carpeting, rugs and/or vinyl floors. Polish or refinish wood floor if needed.
  • Make all minor repairs: dripping faucets, running toilets, etc.
  • Clean and/or replace worn caulking as needed, i.e., counter tops and floors in kitchens and baths.
  • Hide, if possible, all kitchen appliances.
  • Remove all refrigerator wall art, i.e., family pictures, school schedules, magnets, etc.
  • Deep clean house, including oven, refrigerator, bath and shower enclosures.
  • Pack up all personal photos.
  • All counters should be clutter-free.
  • Remove personal necessity items from bathroom and enclosed showers… shampoo, toothpaste, hairbrushes, dirty towels, etc.
  • Straighten, remove and store seasonal clothes from closet.
  • Place fresh flower arrangements on tabletops.
  • Light scented candles to enhance the home's fragrance.
  • Make beds daily.
  • Vacuum and dust regularly.
  • Clean out fireplace. Enhance with decorative candles or logs.
